The Full Story

A high school environmental competition program started in Pennsylvania in 1979 that spread to other states. The name Envirothon was first used in 1988. The program was piloted in Cross County, Arkansas, in 1993. The first Arkansas Envirothon Steering Committee Meeting was held in 1994. The Arkansas Envirothon Committee consists of dedicated individuals from various local, state, and federal agencies, universities, and businesses.
